Who am I

I am  a mother, blogger,  social / human rights activists, motivational speaker, content creator, opinion maker, poet,  writer and many other wonderful things I enjoy to do.   I possess a Bachelors in Science of  Business Administration (BSBA)  and Graduate Studies in Business Manager and Public Health.   I currently work as the Office Manager for an International News Bureau in the great city of New York.

I want to share with you some of my adventures and experiences in Mommy-land, as well as other topics of my interest and yours.   I have a wonderful little boy named Joey and he just turned 9 years old.  I am also a lesbian mother  raising my  child with my partner Linda.  We have a normal family life but is not an ordinary life.

We are a  beautiful and special family and I hope you can enjoy coming along this journey with us.

This is my beautiful family! ♥

Linda, Joey and Mery

Why Meryland Knows Best?

The truth is that I am a very knowledgeable person, I know a little bit of everything and if I don’t know it, I’ll research it.  I can keep up with any conversation and people tend to come to me for answers.  I try to help others as much as I can and I have no problem sharing what I know with those who ask me.

There’s only one thing I can say that I don’t know much about and that is, being a mother!  I wish kids come with a “how to” manual when they are born, but the truth is that motherhood is learned on a daily basis.  It’s a learning experience only acquired thru trial and error, which sometimes come with “boogie” full noses and glitter nightmares (oh Yes! I hate glitter!!).

I realized there’s no such thing as “the perfect mother”, we too make mistakes all the time, but when I see the wonderful little man that my son is becoming, it makes me feel hopeful and positive about the job I’m doing as a mother. I love him with all my heart and I’ll do everything I can to be the best mommy I can be.

Joey and Mommy

I am so fortunate to have a wonderful woman by my side who has been a tremendous help on this journey of mine. Ever since she came into our lives, she has helped me with my mommy duties.   Linda has raised three children of her own, who are now young adults and she is  a proud grandmother of three boys.  Not to sound biased, but I must say she is one gorgeous looking grandma 🙂 .

Linda and Mery

I am learning from her experience and her guidance, together we have taken this wonderful, yet crazy adventure of motherhood with all the ups and downs that comes with the package and we are loving it.

Spanish is my first language, I try to do my best conveying my ideas and thoughts in English, hopefully we can understand each other very well 🙂

I also write in Spanish, visit my blog www.otros20pesos.com

THIS is interesting! The different shades and colours of your story. The activist, the content creator, the motivational speaker, the mother, the lesbian partnership. I’m intrigued by it all!
